Life is like a roller coaster ride. It might sound cliché, but it’s true. There are ups and downs throughout our lives. And there will be definitely be times when you experience self-doubt. At some point in your life, your self-esteem will be battered and you will stop believing in your own abilities, especially after experiencing the downside of life.

And, that’s normal. It’s normal to fall down in our lives. It’s a common event that will happen to everyone in life. Every successful person faced major drawbacks before they succeeded. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Everyone have their own problems to face.

If you have ever felt depressed, down, lost or distressed, remember that you’re not alone. So, right here I’m going to tell you some awesome facts about yourself that you probably haven’t noticed, in the hopes of boosting up your mood and confidence.

Here are the 4 facts about yourself that you should know:

1. You are unique just the way you are.

Yes, you are special. You are one-of-a-kind. There is no one else alive who is the same as you. You are unique because of who you are.

Stop admiring other people around you. Everyone is different from each other. So what if others are better than you in some aspects? Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. But, why do people tend to focus more on their weaknesses instead of their strengths? Why do we always compare our weaknesses with other’s strengths?

Always remember this brilliant quote from Bill Gates:

“Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world. If you do so you are insulting yourself.”

You are different because of who you are. You are unique because of how you act and think. Never lose your own uniqueness because of how others view you. Sometimes, all you need to do is just to be who you truly are.

2. You have potential.

Let me tell you one thing: You haven’t fully unleashed your own potential. You’re capable of doing lots of things that you might not consider possible. There is still a lot of space for improvement in your life. Or maybe, you haven’t really discovered your talent yet.

We always tend to look down on ourselves and doubt our own abilities. This is especially true when failure hit us in the face or we get criticised by the people around us. Lack of self-confidence can be devastating. Here, I’m going to tell you that:

You are better than you think. You just haven’t fully unleashed your potential.

No matter what happens, all you need to do is believe in yourself. Believe in your abilities and focus on your strengths. Work hard and smart and strive for greatness.

3. You are luckier than you think.

By being able to see this beautiful world, you are luckier than those who are blind. By being able to listen to wonderful music, you are luckier than those who are deaf. By being able to walk and run, you are luckier than those who without legs. I don’t think you need me to go on and on.

See how lucky you are? Some people are born without a chance to see the face of their parents. Back in the day, some people may not even have the opportunity to get a proper education, even now, some children in third world countries are working to earn a living instead of studying in school. Don’t you think it’s considered lucky enough to receive a proper education in our life?

When you are complaining about how bad the food tastes, there are tons of children in other parts of the world who are starving. All they hope for is clean water to drink and food to eat. Be grateful of what you have, you are luckier than you think.

“Miracles happen every day, change your perception of what a miracle is and you’ll see them all around you.”

– Jon Bon Jovi

4. You are richer than you think.

Since you are reading this, I am going to assume you have a computer or mobile device, you have the ability to read and understand English and you live in an area with internet. And probably, you aren’t homeless. Or, maybe you are reading this in a café and enjoying the coffee and bagels you just ordered.

From these, I can deduce that you are rich enough to own a computer or mobile device, is able to subscribe to an internet service provider and is also rich in terms of knowledge as you are able to understand all these words.

“No, I’m not rich enough!!!”

“Almost everyone around me have a computer, proper education, and ability to buy themselves a coffee once in a while. How am I richer than them?”

Perhaps you might say these sentences in your mind. Yeah, what you said is probably true. But, the point here is that you are richer than you think. If you have read my previous article “Stop complaining about life”, you will understand this.

In that article, I introduced readers to this amazing site, It is a website which allows you to check where you actually stand in comparison to the rest of the world in terms of wealth. Go check out how rich you are compared to the rest of the world, and you’ll be amazed at how rich you actually are. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the site after you get the results and read up on the amazing facts.

“Just remember there is someone out there that is more than happy with less than what you have.”

Same old mindset, be grateful of what you have. Is the glass half empty or half full? It’s you who chooses to either see the positive or negative part of your life.

Throughout our lives, we will definitely fall down and hit rock bottom more than once. But that doesn’t matter as long as you bounce back, and stand up again.

“Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.”

– Dale Carnegie

Keep in mind that every drawback is the stepping stone to success, but this idea will only work if you truly perceive drawbacks as a stepping stone.

Face it. There will always be haters and toxic people who are going to put you down in your life. But no matter what happens, remember these 4 incredible facts about yourself. Like I said, sometimes, in our lives, what we need to do is believe in ourselves.  All you need to do is to be true to yourself, work smart and hard on improving yourself and let the results speak for itself.
