When things don’t go as planned, what do we usually do? Express our gratitude? Appreciate the fact that we are still alive, despite of all the negative things happening around us?

If your answer is yes, that’s great! Go ahead and click the [x] to close this tab. You have understood the idea I want to share today. You are grateful for your life. And that’s good. Give yourself a round of applause, because most people don’t do that.

Happiness doesn’t last long.

Don’t you agree with me? You might be happy after achieving something, but as time passes, your happiness fades. Have you ever wonder why? Have you ever wondered how you can be happy no matter what happens? According to this article on Lifehack, the key to having a long lasting happiness is simple. Just remember one word: Gratitude. Easier said than done however.

Unfortunately, that’s not our focus today. However, it is somewhat related. Most people will suggest writing a list of the things we are grateful for every day. I definitely agree with that. But, other than being grateful, we should break the bad habit of complaining.

Stop complaining.

Now, just do yourself a little favour. Look back on your life and ask yourself a few simple questions:

  1. How much time have I spent on complaining?
  2. Were my problems solved after I complained?
  3. Did I felt better after I complained? (Maybe yes, but too much of complaining leads to negativity too.)
  4. What if, instead of complaining, I see the good in the bad, the light in the dark, the positive in the negative? Will things become better?

Why stop complaining? Because…

You only live once.

Remember, we only live once. Just ONCE. Do you want to spend the rest of your life complaining about stuff that you have no control over? If it makes you feel better, than go ahead. No one can stop you. But, think about it, does complaining about your problems over and over again make things better? Does it make you feel good? Are you doing something that adds value to your life? This hard-hitting question will lead you to the answer. It is time to rethink your choices again. You only live once. Don’t spend your life living in regret.

Please don’t misunderstand what I am trying to say here. If you receive bad customer service, please, do go ahead and complain. It is call feedback, which will help the businesses to grow and improve. If you receive a low quality product, go ahead and complain too. My point is that we shouldn’t be complaining about things that we can’t control in our lives. Or, grumbling about the bad things that are happening to us. By doing this, we only fill our mind with negativity, which will eventually harm us.

It’s true. While you’re reading this article in front of your computer/laptop or maybe through your brand new smartphone, there are millions of people who are currently starving or suffering in war-zones. See how lucky you are? Perhaps, you just drank a glass of water. That is considered as lucky too, because one third of the world population, which is around 2.3 billion people don’t have access to clean drinking water. Yes, 2.3 billion people!

Do you still want to complain about how hard your life is?

You are blessed with many things, and the things you are not blessed with, won’t come to you if you complain all day long. Remember, you need to put in the effort to get those. Complaining surely won’t get you there!

LET TODAY BE THE LAST DAY YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR LIFE.
